Lloyd Longfield: My Life as a Member of Parliment Presentation: Looks like a very enlightening talk of what it is like to serve in the Canadian Parliament Bio: Barb and Lloyd have been married for 47 years, and have three daughters, two sons-in-law, and four grandchildren. They have lived in Guelph for 33 years, moving here from Winnipeg. Lloyd just retired from serving as Guelph’s Member of Parliament for three terms, between 2015 and 2025. Some of those details include chairing the Standing Committee for Science and Research, Vice-Chairing Public Accounts, and serving on the Standing Committees for Environment, for Industry, and for Agriculture, as well as chairing the Innovation Caucus, the Automotive Caucus, and serving on the Seniors’ Caucus and Housing Caucus. Prior to that he was President and CEO of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Chamber Executives of Ontario and served on the Board of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. Lloyd received both the Queen’s Jubilee Award and the King Charles III Coronation Medal for community service. Lloyd is currently completing a Masters in Leadership at the UofG, and looks forward to serving in new ways during retirement! 10am. To be followed by Live Questions. March 19th. 2026
Ezio Di Emanuele: Stories by a Former Civil Servant Presentation: Ezio shares his journey from being the proud Son of Italian immigrant parents to the sport of hockey that empowered his pursuit of a career with the federal government as an Executive, Diplomat, Senior Trade Commissioner, and Regional Director. His stories represent reflections of some (not all) of the career highlights he experienced. Bio: Ezio is a former Executive, Diplomat, Senior Trade Commissioner, and Regional Director with 31 years of federal government public service. His public sector background includes international trade-related assignments with the Departments of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and Global Affairs Canada, including postings to the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo and the Canadian High Commission in London, England. While in London, he was elected Chairman of the 30-member country International Grains Council, an organization that promotes international cooperation, market transparency, and stability in the global grains trade. After retiring from the federal public service, he joined MNP LLP’s Food & Beverage team for 13 years as a Senior Business Advisor working from the firm’s Toronto, Waterloo, and Cambridge offices. He and the team grew this new niche practice to $40 million in revenue by delivering accounting, tax, and business advisory services to food and beverage industry clients from coast to coast. Ezio earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science from Lake Superior State University while there on a NCAA hockey scholarship and completed his studies for a Masters in Public Policy (M.P.P.) from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a past Board member of the Ontario Agricultural Adaptation Council, Soy 20/20, Bioenterprise, the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario, the George Morris Value Chain Management Centre, and the Agri-Food Innovation & Regulation Chair’s Advisory Board at the Ivey School of Business. 10am.
