August Meetings

Thursday August 8th.
Sarah Bowers-Peter - Crime Stoppers Guelph/Wellington: Human Trafficking

Presentation:

Most people are oblivious to the crime of Human Trafficking/Sex Trafficking and certainly unaware that it happens in the City of Guelph and County of Wellington. While it is grossly underreported, the stats are still staggering. Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington has taken on Human Trafficking/Sex Trafficking awareness to prevent youth from becoming victims and to help adults identify the signs. We will discuss the early stages of grooming through to signs of youths being trafficked. Yes, it is an uncomfortable topic, but it's worse for the victims and their families, who never knew Human Trafficking was coming for them. With an understanding of this crime and by using Crime Stoppers, the public can help put an end this horrific crime.
