Meeting June 24 2010

Tour of Wastewater Treatment Facility ~ June 24th 2010

The Royal City Men's Club met at the City of Guelph Wastewater Treatment Plant, at 530 Wellington Street West on the above date for a tour of the Plant.

Thirty-nine members showed up for the tour, which started at 9:00 a.m. with a half hour presentation by Shawn Neal, assisted by Gerry Atkinson.

After fielding a number of questions from members, Shawn and Gerry split the group in two and led the groups on a tour of the primary, secondary and tertiary treatment facilities. They were obviously proud of the fact that the Guelph Wastewater Treatment Plant is highly regarded by people in that business and attracts delegations from around the world. They are currently working with the University of Waterloo on a project dealing with estrogen and other pharmaceuticals in wastewater.

A bit of rain at 10:30 encouraged members to heed President Len Johnstone's call to reassemble in the classroom/trailer where Ken Marchant thanked Shawn and Gerry for their excellent presentation and tour and presented them with a small token of appreciation on behalf of the Royal City Men's Club.
