The Royal City Men's Club met at Trinity United Church Gymnasium on the above date. There were 38 members and one guest
present.
Refreshments were served from 9:30 a.m.
President Tom Beale brought the meeting to order at 10 a.m., introduced third time guest, Larry Hillier, and shared historical
events of the date.
Len Johnstone told the joke of the day.
John Bull reminded members of the Anniversary Luncheon Meeting to be held on April 15 2010 at 10:30 a.m., followed by
lunch served at noon.
John Proctor introduced guest speaker Sean Fox, Assistant Manager, University of Guelph Arboretum, who spoke on
Elm Tree Recovery. Sean shared the history of the Arboretum from its foundation in 1970. Illustrated by excellent slides,
he showed us the wildlife, rehabilitation sites, the memorial forest, the display gardens and examples of the 1700 taxa of
woody plants. He then told the story of Dutch Elm Disease and the steps taken for the recovery from it. Questions and
answers followed.
A token of appreciation was presented to Sean by Rob Scouller.
The meeting was declared closed by President Tom at 11:10 a.m.
